We make those files executable with a single command: Once inside that folder, type "ls" to list out the images stored in it. Next comes two little tricks at once. That puts you into the default folder where GNS3 stores IOL images (the full path is /home/ your_user/GNS3/images/IOU). Just open up a terminal and then type this: Unlike the GNS3-VM, though, when you use the GNS3 GUI to import the images, it'll complain they aren't an executable.

If you've been using the gns3-vm, and running IOU, you'll need to generate a new iourc file. It's kind of an unwritten rule to not explain how to do it, but the instructions are all over the internet.
You should see "ubridge docker" as the last two. If you get a permission error regarding ubridge, then you'll need to reboot. You can also verify the groups your user belongs to, by simply typing "groups" (without the qoutes), and you'll see a list of all the groups your user belongs to. Now you can logout and back in, and try running GNS3. Once it's done, you'll create a new group, add your user to the group, and then we'll finally logout and log in, or reboot:
